Wow, the footage there is great but check the guys photo album shots. Hundreds of classic air racers. Amazing.

A great video. That man has one heck of a collection of vintage photos. I noticed there's more videos in with the photos also. Thanks for sharing

Seriously, watch them all. There is so much awesomeness packed into these videos, even Chuck Norris was impressed. A plethora of Goodyear racers? Check. An F2G on its nose while the races continue? Check. Beguine airborne? Check. A Martin Mars? Check. A 21-ship B-29 fly-by? Check. A three-ship B-36 flyby? Check. Much, much more? Check.

I searched aafo as well as google to see if this was asked before, but did not find a specific answer...Watching these great old movies of the Cleveland Races I was fascinated by seeing Bill Odom and Beguine in flight...I was wondering if from an engineering / aero standpoint does anyone here have an explanation as to why Beguine was so unstable and had such a tough time recovering from a roll?...Was it just the obvious extra weight at the wing tips?...I know many aircraft had wing tip tanks so the wing tip radiators causing this seems unlikely to me, but I am not that well versed...Sorry if this is old turf being rehashed.

If I'm at the races in 2014 stop by the T6 Pace Plane (Yellow MYT6) pit I have some black & white photos I took as a teen of the racers at Cleveland including "Galloping Ghost".

Wow!!! Amazing footage! Seeing Beguine in the air is the coolest thing -having played in numerous swing bands, that bird has always been a favorite of mine. Does anybody know if the P-38 shown racing Tony Leviers?
