The excitement and drama is in the real life story. You can't make something up and have it be better than what is there. A great example of a motorsports documentry is "Dust to Glory" It tells the history of the race and the personal determination of those involved. Reno is ripe with characters and personal struggle that they go through to get there for a reality documentry.

Nearly 12k in grassroots donations from the folks who put butts in seats... "IF" this was all that there is, then it would not be enough.. if, as Mike H. has said, they are nearly there, I'd have to say that fans who donate that kind of money would be an Impressive motivator to those who might be in the business of "sponsoring" (really sponsor is a dirty word in funding) better put, partnering an event.

12k from a dedicated fan sponsor base in about two weeks.. OBVIOUSLY, not enough to fund an event but, pretty damned impressive, indeed!

Can we save the world, $100. bux at a time??? Probably not...

        Impressive, though... !

Somebody "big" must be stepping up. While not the biggest event here it is a one of them. You would think the casino's would have an interest in keeping the income rolling in. In their big picture $500,000 spread amongst them is not a lot of money.
There was a documentary a while back about Jon Sharp and Nemesis, the development, the heartbreaks and problems of getting it to 400 mph. Very good. Maybe something along those lines? I'm not in any position money or talent-wise but would be a cool project. PM's story, Stevo's rise, etc. would be good.
And the 3D movie had excellent film work but like WBK said was too staged. Sparky beating Strega? That's one hell of a wax job those guys put on...

I will also throw in (with Air Racers 3D, haven't seen the other) the disappointing lack of sound. When I went to my closest Imax theater, one of the things I was really excited about was sitting in the theater and having that awesome unlimited sound surrounding me on the sound system. It seemed strange to me that the movie was nearly devoid of engine/prop noise, as one of the first things people talk about after going to Reno the first time (to those who haven't been) is "you have to hear these things!"

Wow the fan contributions are starting to get up there.

Since RARA received $450,000.00 they lowered the crowd goal to $50,000.00.

Someone just contributed $2,000.00 (Robert - you the man) and its at $14,495.00.

Hope this keeps going - fan support is a awesome thing.

Couldn't read the link here at work. Just read the article in the RGJ paper, guess it WAS the casino's that came through.
                  Props!
