Re: And the crowd funding campaign begins.....
You are correct. We dont have it. Show it to us. Or better yet show it to someone who knows how to take an event that has this much money changing hands and make the books balance.
The food vendors are making money, I promise.
210,000 bodies come in and out of the grounds each race week. The vendors wouldn't be there if they were not making money.
A minimum of $550 per booth plus 20% of gross sales? That a whole bunch of money!!
They also charge $5000 (MINIMUM!) per plane in order to have it sit there in the static display during raceweek.
They also charge $600 per unlimited entrant, $500 per Jet, Sport or T-6, and $400 per Sport or Bipe.
How about the spots in the pits where the corporate jets are and lycoming engines and such? $10,000 to $20,000 per spot.
WHERE IS IT ALL GOING????
RARA should be seeing a portion of every dollar spent on site. If they are not then this is truly the most mismanaged event in history.
Dont get me wrong. I want RARA to make tons of money and I want the Races to be profitable. I dont think they are over charging for most things, and I enjoy most all the things they spend the money on. But the fact remains that this doesnt add up.
Someone is making money here, and it's not the people that need to be making it in order to keep the event alive and flourishing.

According to their site, a 10x10 booth is $550, plus a 20% commission to them. Assuming this is a percentage of gross sales (it doesn't specify but it used to be that way), you need to sell $4000 of product to meet the minimum before you see a clear profit.

My question on this relates to how the money is spent. You're not claiming everyone spends $400 with RARA are you? I can see that as total spend between RARA, vendors at the races, and in the local community. To be fair to RARA, you really have to carve out only the money which lands in their pocket. Tickets and regalia go to them, and I assume they charge license fees to the vendors. Maybe they take a percentage of sales, I don't know.
