Yesterday in Dayton, Ohio the last three of the four reaming Doolittle Raiders offered a final toast to their fallen comrades.
In a ceremony on Saturday at the Air Force National Museum an historian called out all 80 of the original airmen. Only three of the four men were able to attend. They included David Thatcher, Richard Cole and Edward Saylor. Robert Hite was unable to attend because of health problems.
At last years 71st Doolittle Raiders Anniversary the four remaining survivors decided that they would gather one more time to toast their comrades. So on Saturday evening, November 10, 2013 they opened the bottle of cognac dating back to 1896 and raised their glasses one more time from their special engraved silver goblets and toasted the 76 other airmen that were a part of the famous attack on Japanese soil.
