'GREAT-Job', Michael, in capturing a truly-historic moment in air-racing history. Very artistic editing, btw!

This is gettin' bad! Anytime I hear some prop cutting the air.....I'm chargin' for the door/window. 3 weeks can't go by fast enough. Severe case of ramp-fever here. The only cure is Merlin/Griffon/Wright & Pratt prop-wash.

Nevertheless it is a very good video. With only seeing Voodoo testing that´s enough. Thank you for posting it.

Why has it been on the ground and and not flown for two years? Did it need moderate/major work?

SKV... you're here a lot, do a search and jog your memory. Button pulled the plug a few years ago and put the airplane up for sale.. a deal was "brokered" where Steven Hinton will fly it this year. Others know more but no major work that I know of had to be done.. (other than normal race prep.. new motor.. etc)

                      ???

Only paint for this year is on aft turtledeck which in front of the dorsal fin.

What about the number 5 on the starboard side of the tail. Looks "iffy".

In 2011, a rudder with no trim tab was installed and and it had a vinyl letter on the right side. Mid-week, we went back to the trim tab rudder. The 5 on the right side will be replaced by the time Reno comes around.

The engine itself has not been painted for this year. Rather than spend time trying to make things pretty (and worrying about the chemical stripper eating parts), the race motors are built up from parts Bob already has which are a myriad of colors. This includes swapping some cases, heads and banks, thus the unique combination of colors between motors. The prop governor came back from the shop with Larry's touch on it. The header tank was found to have a crack, so it was sent out and came back some random gloss olive color.
