Awesome! I hope he does a lap. IMHO, every air show performer should have to do a lap of some sort.
You'll get your chance, smart guy!

Well a "hot lap" won't be much of a spectacle when done at 2000-3000 AGL, safe parachute opening height.
Still, it will be cool to see. He has done some neat stunts.

He can climb and decend with his wing.

Im thinking a hot lap pull to vert at finish line, climb deployment alt, then pull the chute at show center.

Actually, im not sure if he can pull to vert in that thing. But would be cool.

Yes he can climb but not significantly. I doubt self preservation will let him descend below the altitudes I mentioned. This guy is no fool and he knows there are lots of ways to die in that contraption. My bet is you will see him stay safe. I'd like to see him barrel roll around another airplane though.

At the end of the day it's good entertainment and something different.

I watched a show about his preparation to fly across the English Channel. The wing he was using then would stall with no warning, and when he could recover, IIRC it took a couple thousand feet. I guess the deciding factor regarding minimum altitude would be the time it takes to safely deploy a main chute, and if required, a reserve.

I would love to see him do his show at Reno.

Erm, if he has to do his show at altitude, there isnt going to be much for us to see. A black dot and smoke wont be very exciting for the spectators.

To paraphrase a line from a Monty Python sketch about flying sheep: " Notice that he does not so much fly as...plummet."
