  • Richard Bach crashes, serious condition

Aviation writer Richard Bach. Amazingly talented writer clipped a wire and stuffed his amphib.

    May he heal quickly.

I love his work, I think I like "Biplane" the best.

When they first reported it locally they made it sound like it was the person that built the plane in the accident. They didn't mention Bach. This morning the local paper made it was clear it was him. I didn't even know that he lived in this area.

I was happily surprised to see him such a fan of the Searay, which seems like a cool little plane and perfect for up here in the Puget Sound area.

I definitely wish him a speedy recovery!

Didn't he have a bad Mustang crash in the early 70's? I remember something about going into an ILS building.

Leo, I believe he clipped a landing light and bent a P-51 way-back-when...., but it was not a "bad" accident.

40 years ago and an old man memory. Plus I remember it from Air Classics so...

Ha! Didn't know it was that Mustang.
I have shots of "This is It" in it's hangar in Monterey from many years ago, and was buzzed by it at Lake Comanche about 12 years ago.

                    Thanks!
