It turns the rotation into tab movement as the rod moves fore and aft to move the tab. I didn't know if they found enough of that to see if that suffered any issues in this. They show analysis of every other part of the elevator trim but that.
    Wouldn't that part of the system be removed when they installed the electric trim?

      Electric trim was a motor driven spool in which small cable is wrapped around and they mounted it just forward of the horizontal in the tail. It connected with the one stock trim spool on the L/H side of the horizontal. Instead of manually turning a knob in the cockpit as in a stock setup an electric switch in moved to change the trim position of the tab.
      The trim tab unit in the tail was stock with exception of the tab. Original was phenolic and what was installed was made of alum.
      The mods then were electric source rather than manual, only one side functioned and alum tabs.
