Because when Bob Button purchased Pegasus from the Bill Speer estate in 1995 and re-christened it as Voodoo Chile, he had a 5 year plan. That five year plan was to win reno by 2000. But he also said that if the 5 year plan didn't work out, he had a 10 year plan to fall back on. And if THAT didn't work, he said he would be done racing.

That 5 year plan turned into the 10 year plan, which ultimately turned into a 16 year plan....and even before the 16th year last season, he said that 2011 was going to be his last one.

16 years with a TON of money spent and 0 wins to show for it. At some point it stops being fun and you realize that your money could be better spent on other things.

          That is why.

I look at it as 'we got six more years than Button said he would race the plane'...and he's leaving with everything intact.

He sure gave it one hell of a try. Voodoo will be missed but I sure admire the tenacity showed over the years and respect his decision (I would have thrown in the towel several engines ago), whatever Voodoo becomes next.
Wonder what he will do with the worlds larget EZ-up?

Keep the holy mother of all EZ-ups and go sailplane racing?
He wouldn't have to build any more engines.....

Can somebody photo-shop the Voodoo Chile's paint scheme onto a competition sailplane for us?
                Carbon is groovy man...

So, what's the story behind the 40' bra hanging in the back of the "Porta-hangar"? The "normal" size bras probably have some interesting stories as well.
