Is the Bear out for 2012????? I'm hearing bad things from my industry insider. Can anybody confirm? It's a rumour at this point, and I hope it's false.

We went by the Bear cave last Saturday and the Bear is still sitting there with all the heads off (except 2).

The plane looks great. I wouldn't waste too much time worrying about a rumor that the Bear will not racing this year.

That's the Bear for ya. Likes to sleep late, but come September he'll get antsy in the cave.

How many times over the last decade or 2 have we been surprised at the 11th hour?????

By the way, anybody notice the bad ass scratch built racer they are building?? Rear cockpit and a big radial. Maybe 2 years away from flying/racing.

That is the Jackson / Cornell designed project that is now owned by Rod Lewis. It isn't intended for racing. He want to break the speed and time to climb records with it.

              Race 5,

Thanks for the clarification. I knew someone here would fill in the blanks.

Will be nice to see something new.

                That's not clarification.

                "It isn't intended for racing."????

                Ya, right.

I was told directly by both Rod and Dave that the plan was not to race it. If that has changed then great. I look forward to seeing it.

My understanding was that once certain distance and climb records were set that the wings were getting clipped and then 3k and course records were next.

If that's true the crew hasn't heard about it.

They're always the last to know...

I've seen the Bear in more and smaller pieces on Saturday night and whip butt on Sunday.

Gotta love this thread. From rumors of no-show, to speculation on why, to explaination of why and back to rumors again.

That was probably what Dave thought 20 years ago, not now perhaps.
                            Good luck on the Bearcat.
