Whoa. That?s a cool shot. I don?t think anybody here minds the fingerprint one bit.
Is that a Toyota Hellica in the corner?

I'm not sure what that is in the corner. I do have a better pic of the car in a different shot. Its taking me about 30 min per shot to clean up all the dust and other crap on the image. Needless to say, its a slow process.
Its really kinda interesting to look through these pics and see all the changes that have happened both with the races, and with the area around Stead.

For sure. Especially for those of us that we?re out there in the good ole days. I?d love to go though any old fenceline pictures and see if I?m in one as a kid. They seem to be pretty rare though. I sure do miss that barbed wire fence. Thanks for posting these. I appreciate your hard work.
Thanks for your work in getting those photos online. I',m glad I was there.
Looks like Mike Brown flew into our local patch today.

Got back from a 600 mile Nevada Social Distancing on/off road trip.
Some stuff out there that reminds us of who we are and where we have been.
Retirement is awesome.

Sorry it's not airplanes, but they do fly on 4 wheels, I think there's some interest here with the crowd that visits here.
Last years event was cancelled, so I went on a wonderful 3 day road trip to Ely, Nevada for the 2021 Open Road Challenge and check out the cars.
Retirement is awesome!

Most interesting was this hand built car. It took him ten years to create his vision. Mainly out of composite materials including even the head and tail lights.
It had a cab forward design, quite interesting profile.

OK...I'll bite.
And it has to be said, these at least have some relationship to Reno!:lol3:
And the ladies come to play as well.
A lot of us here can relate.
Will,
The hill should be fun this year.
I may get to use my 500mm lens I bought 3 years ago, haven't used it once :-(
I was thinking I may sell the lens package, keep the D500 body (also never used) and buy a good lens for shooting video with the D500??
:beerchug::beerchug::beerchug:
I'd wait to sell it till after the races, or a give it a try at PRS. I use my big lens more often than any of my wide angles. I guess you could shoot video with it, but you would need a good tripod I think. Still, from the hillside that could offer some really cool footage assuming you get the pan smooth and correct.
I'm looking forward to shooting from the hillside on Saturday this year. Its such a cool spot to shoot from.

So, as we age, we generally get shorter and some cases wider.
Why did the old Stead Airfield get higher (now 5050 back a few, 5046).
By the way, she's kind of the grand ole lady of the Reno Air Races, maybe she should get a Section 3 orange coat of paint:cool:
