  • T-29!

Wow! A T-29/C-131/CV-240 just flew over my house in Sacramento! It looked like it was headed towards Auburn. I haven't seen one of those flew in a long time!

      Re: T-29!

This airplane has been flying over my house up to 4-5 times a day! I don't know what it's doing but it sure is good to hear radials regularly again!

I heard that it is doing some type of surveying. I don't have any more info than that though.

            Bruce,
That's what I thought yesterday, as it flew over in true North and South patterns. It flew over my house about every 10 minutes or so.

I'll try to get some pictures and post them. Funny, I didn't even think about taking any, duh!!

                Re: T-29!

I went to high school in Tuolumne City in Tuolumne County back in the late 60's. I remember seeing T-29's out of Mather flying over on the same track day after day after day...obviouly it was some kind of training route........was cool back then.......and the memories are still cool...........long live radials and pistons.....

                  Re: T-29!

Here in Lincoln, I see/hear many times a day when I am outside. Unfortunately, I am only armed with a camera phone. Even at the lowest altitude I have seen it, the quality would be poor.

Yeah, that's the bird! That's about as good as I'd of a photo as be able to get from my house. I talked to a guy this weekend who had some great shots of her flying out of McClellan who said it was a geological survey aircraft. He had some pretty detailed shots of some of the sensors hanging off the bottom. I haven't been able to catch it out at McClellan parked, but I'll keep trying.

                        Re: T-29!

Hi, I'm the one that took that pic. I've been doing a lot of research and digging to try and figure out what they are doing. Contacted USGS directly and they don't have any aircraft in the area. I haven't gotten a good view of the pod underneath does it look like this? I have a call into air control at McClellan, awaiting a reply. Will let you know if I find anything out.

Not the same kind of pod. That's more of a fire bomber type, the one on this bird is more sensor type. I did get some pictures tonight that I'll try to upload. I did the best I could with my Olympus P.O.S. 2000. I'm no Alien!
