Now that was fun. That aircraft actually looks like a single seat conversion of a T-6. It is reminiscent of some racers from the 1940s Cleveland era -- there was a womens' T-6 class that permitted considerable modification.

I know the races you're talking about, they were staged after WWII and used modified T-6's. I think you're right, that airplane is a T-6, but almost looks as though the canopy has been shortened, but also looks like it's higher then normal. I don't see any spray booms, mainly because most of the airplane is blocked, but I wonder if it was a sprayer converted from a T-6

Well................look at the still picture of the converted T-6 to a Zero and then the video..........sure looks like a different shaped canopy..........maybe it's the angle...........or maybe, it's just me LOL.

^This. They converted a BUNCH of T-6's for the movie "Tora,Tora.Tora" in the mid 70's. Then they brought some to Reno to act out a Pearl Harbor attack. Really memorable as one year, they had the CAF's P-39 and P-40 doing dogfights with the "Zeros". If ya wanna see a REALLY bad modded T-6, watch "God is my Co-pilot" with Dennis Morgan. I'm pretty sure that the MB was for Mike Brown on purpose. On the race plane he also had the MB on the rudder. Don't hear much about him since he sold all the planes & headed for the Islands.Lockheed BobComment

The "MB" wasn't added until Mr. Brown bought it. If you look at the picture in the link the reg. number is N232......but I could be wrong.Originally posted by GRNDP51 View Post
