  • National Championship Air Races Unlimited Air Racing a GO for 50th Anniversary Event

Coming into this without official press releases and such.. I will say to anyone just stepping into this subject, it would appear that the Unlimited Racing division and the Reno Air Race Association (RARA) with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have reached an agreement which would abide by the rules needed to keep the air race fans safe, as well as keeping the Unlimited Air Race Pilot's safe..

Someone mentioned in another thread that there was a huge air pressure differential noted on the weather channel.. it would, indeed, have been a huge collective sigh of relief being recorded..

Again, all this is absent offiial press release format stuff but, it's real.. I've gotten enough information to say this with pretty clear confidence..

    Phew!

Thanks to everyone who made this happen!!!!

Does anyone know what compromise was agreed upon about the altitude limitations?

Shouldn't that read "Just that sweet sound blasting the ear from at least (12) short stacks"? What if you happen to have more than 12 cylinders? You can't tell me that a Centaurus, R2000,2800,3350 or 4360 sounds bad. (Especially if the plane in question happens to have more than one R2800 )

I like the way YOU think. Especially the more than one 2800 part.

A-26s and Tigercats, how can you go wrong? I'd say throw R2600s in, but I don't think a B-25 has ever raced We should think about changing the 12 to 9, that way the T-6s and T-28s get counted, and Wildfire doesn't get left out (assuming it makes it one day.) Now we just need to get an A-26 out there, or were they excluded/banned for being too large? I know at least one has run in the past.
