  • Voodoo's return

I was just told last week that Voodoo was being readied for a one time return to air racing. Needless to say I was very excited as I have always enjoyed seeing her fly 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004. The last time I saw her fly, Curt Brown the astronaut was pilot. My health has been deteriorating the last few years and I have not been able to go up to see the races as of late, so when Voodoo retired 2011 I figured I would never get another chance to see her run the course. Now that I know my favorite plane is back, I will probably make ,what is my last voyage to the races. In my conversation with one of the crew member just a while ago I was told that they have a new race pilot this year. It appears that Steve Hinton will be taking the ride from Curt Brown the Astronaut. I am guessing its because Curt is getting too old to fly is what I am guessing. I will assume that Mr. Hinton will be bringing his winning crew chief along with engine builder Vintage V-12 so that they might have a chance at winning this year. From what I have been told they have been having a problem with their engines & crew as of late. So going all new might provide the magic they need. On another note, is there anyone that might have a spare ticket for the races this year for an old vet?

Going to be kinda hard for Mr. Hinton to race two airplanes.

Well, since I've been to/through Yolo, CA I'd say that it certainly is a real town.

The new guy must be an amateur fisherman. His trolling skills are a bit week. Curt Brown may be called a lot of things by some people, but too old to fly isn't one of them. He flew Saw Bones just fine last year. Stevo in Voodoo? I'll have some of what you are smoking.

                        Re: Voodoo's return

I just logged in and viewed the numerous comments on this thread. I turned 94 years old this last January , so please bare with me on my typing skills. I dont smoke anything at my age. i know now the error I made in refering to Curt Brown as the last pilot. My last attendance to Reno.was when he flew Voodoo. I.assumed he was still the pilot. In regards to which Steve.I am pretty sure that the crew member said Stevo.,so.I imagine he meant Jr. He said Tiger had retired his plane last year and Stevo was free to fly anything he wanted. Voodoo would almost be considered a sure thing and I know Mr.Button has never finished.better than third in the Gold on Sunday. He could literally back into 1st place with no Strega in front of him..I meant no.disrespect , but clearly remember what was said. Perhaps Mr. Button would like to comment on the matter and settle the issue. Best to all fellow race fans.

This would be some of the best news of the 2013 race season.

Picture this; a photo finish S. Fury, Voodoo, and Precious Metal for the Gold!

Maybe even a little Bear action. Could be pretty good. What do ya say fellas?

                            Re: Voodoo's return

I don't think that Curt Brown has ever piloted Voodoo during a race. He did pilot Strega in about '03 or '04, and it was just that one year.

Actually, Mr. Brown did in fact race Voodoo in '04.

Attempted to race Strega in '05, didn't get Qualified.
