Here's a trivia question, which has the highest climb rate, a stock Bearcat or a Thunder Mustang?

Or we could delve into the realm of not so stock Bearcat's

3000 meters in 91.9 seconds which if the neumbers are what I recall translates into about 6500 FPM....................

Would love to see it done now..............

Actually the man with 3 brains has stated that performance was better with the 4 blade Aeroproducts, Hence why it is in use now..........

As I have stated before if Sheer Coolness meant anything the 3 Blade would still be there..............

On the race course, but what about time to climb? Agree that the AP is better turning eight mile circles for sure.

                        Re: Thunder Mustang trivia

As per BCIV a while back, in the '90's the Planes of Fame had a Griffon Spit with a Shackelton unit up front. Lyle and Hinton had apparently discussed using that airplane to go ater Lyle's 'time to climb' record.

And "IF" that had happened and the Spit beat Lyle's record, a certain warbird owner/racer from south Florida offered up a set of stock Bearcat wing tips to outfit on the Bear so they could go after it again.

Was really bummed when that ship sailed. The Spit is now in France with the stock wing tips and powerplant. I did get to see it perform at PoF before she left though so very glad for that opportunity. While I understand the reasoning behind putting it back to stock it sure was a fascinating aircraft with the Shack prop and spinner up front!

Here is something I've never been able to find out....how was RB configured when they set the TTC record? Did it have a stock 3350, or if modified, how so? I've asked these questions in here before, but I've never gotten any answers....

I highly doubt that Spit, or any Spit for that matter would be able to beat RBs record, and even if it did, it certainly wouldn't be able to beat by enough that RB wouldn't be able to take it back...
