  • "The Believer"

Hey there folks. Anybody have any photos of Joseph Kasparoff's "The Believer" P-51C Race 97, that they would like to share? Especially the lettering and striping and the prop would be greatly appreciated. Also if anybody has any other detailed recollections of the plane, for a future scale model build, that would be awesome as well.

    Thanks!!

"Wanted, Pictures of P51 The Believer for model project."

What would be helpful, is if you would post in your header exactly what you want. For example, "Wanted, Pictures of P51 The Believer for model project."

A header, "The Believer" is sort of meaningless and gives the reader no clue on what it contains.

I believe you cannot change the header once you have made the post. Good luck with your needs.

SVD...could you be any less helpful? Too lazy to click? Seriously? FWIW...I knew exactly what plane this thread was about before I opened it.

XMH...I do have some pics somewhere, although I don't think any are closeups of the prop. Speedy or Neal may be able to help there. I'll see what I can find.

When I read the header I knew exactly what airplane he was talking about...enough to get me to click on the link and see.

I didn't see anything wrong with it...no different than if he had posted "Dreadnought".

          Awww dang I tried....

Thanks guys for the looks, this plane is just gorgeous!!! Ive been painting and lettering racecars since I was 14 years old, and this plane looks as if I did it in some other life....and its RED!!

I would post a web find pic of it, but I am still unclear as to the exact policy on this, so I will refrain.

I am thinking of converting one of my 1/24th D models into a C for this build...big and red (to go with my future 1/24 Precious Metal build)...

I knew what plane he was posting about. I saw it at a Santa Maria,CA air show & I think "Skip" H. was flying it. I hope you know who "Skip" H. is.

I noticed the Super K on the cowl, I believe this was also on the cowl of Mr. Awful/Awesome at one time. Is that a sponsor? Anyone care to elaborate?

The name of one of Joe Kasparoff's companies.

Super K Productions or some such IIRC. It was a small aerospace manufacturing firm out in Cal.

I thought the Believer paint job was interesting...but I thought it was kind of sad that Joe K painted over Shangri-La to make it happen....

And it's currently done up as Princess Elizabeth.

Yeah, but Gentille's "Shangri-La" from 4th FG/336th FS was perhaps the most famous P-51B from WWII. And Regina's was the first 'restored' B-model to hit the warbird circuit. Even though by today's standards it wasn't a very accurate restoration, it still was a great paint job for the time. And watching Skip race that thing on the course....anyone who saw Unlimited heat 2B in 1982 knows it was one of the best races any time, ever....and that was the race that Skip hit the buzzard with the horizontal about halfway through.

Of course that was also the race in which RRIII blew up and was on fire, not to mention landing out in the weeds and doing a great deal of damage in the process. Guess Dan was too far out in front for anyone to remember that. Wonder how many people knew that Michael O'Leary was in the back seat with Skip???
