  • FORTRESS (The Movie)

Anyone seen "Fortress" yet? Is it any good? I don't recall seeing it discussed here.

DESCRIPTION: "When the commander of the crew of a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber is killed in action in a raid over Sicily in 1943, his replacement, a young, naive pilot struggles to be accepted by the plane’s already tight-knit Irish American crew. "

I don't think that I had ever even heard of it.

Juke, That was pretty cool. I didn't know about the air crews being interned like that.

I could give this a shot. It can't be much worse than Memphis Belle. It can't be as bad as Thunder Over Reno.

I am still waiting for Peter Jacksons re-make of the Dam Busters film.
Stephen Fry was recently heard to say that he is off to New Zealand to work on the film (he is meant to writing the script). Probably will be a few more years before we see the film which is reported to be costing $40 million and is in 3d.

I'm waiting for a remake of The Wall using clips from the remake of The Dam Busters.

Just watched the Fortress trailer.. I'm just happy that Hollywood today is making movies about that generation and our beloved Warbirds!

                  I'm looking forward to it.

                    Should never write off CGI..

This is from a few years ago... wonder where the artist/s went who did it... Though not in HD, flight dynamics are best I've seen.

I could watch that sort of stuff all day long....

It takes a while to load. Worx fine here.

The clip of the Spitfires and Mosquitoes does look pretty good. Some CGI is just phenomenal.

I, too, am very much awaiting the remake of the 1955 Dam Busters film. Apparently, Peter Jackson, director of the latest rendition of King Kong and Lord of the Rings fame, is serious about remaking the film. Check out his Forward in Robert Taylor's Air Combat Paintings Vol. VI book. If he follows through with the movie, which has been lingering for some time, I believe he really wants to do it justice. In which case, we could have another cinematic aviation masterpiece.

I remeber that clip Wayne. I also recall people debating whether it was real or not. Very realistic CGI work there.

I think the movie with the Skeeters and Spits is "633 Squadron". I remember seeing parts of this movie as a kid eons ago. These are the real deal.....
