Week 2 - Movie night! - Top Gun

This week lets talk about Top Gun!

I'll be watching it the weekend but I'll start the discussion with how much I loved this movie when it came out! Watched it in the theaters probably 10 times with friends.

Still one of my most favorite movies. In the spring/summer the town of Gardnerville will play movies in one of the parks downtown, and this happened to be one of the ones shown this year.....it was a must see!

Not to drag this but I couldn't find the original movie thread...

I vote for a future viewing of "Dr. Strangelove"... while not really an "aviation movie".. the B-52 scenes with Slim (Maj. (King) Kong) Pickens are absolutely priceless, thinking this one deserves a nod...

And, as I've found, this movie is something of a cult favorite among current B-52 crews... (the crew I met a few years ago could just about do every scene with Slim in the cockpit)

Stupid question #1... you're at the O-Club at Nellis enjoying adult activities with a B-52 crew.. you ask (these guys are young remember) "have you seen Dr. Strangelove?"

So many quotable lines from this movie.. I bet we can quote 75% of the script in this one thread.

While I love this movie, I refuse to buy it on DVD. It is shown more than enough on TV, for my wife to satisfy her eye candy cravings ROFLMAO. This movie is like Rocky Horror to the cult following. She acts out seances, and says the entire script word for word, with or just before the actor says it.

or Diego Garcia. You will be there awaiting court-martial."


I deployed to both of those sites and was told it was a 'good deal'.

I agree, but then I like flying out of Hong Kong. I guess since I was never a glorified Navel fighter pilot I don't know what I was missing.
