  • OT... Darrel Waltrip's ride in a V8 supercar

Had to post this despite being totally OT, but its funny as,
Darrel Waltrip and the SPEED TV, NASCAR team were in Australia for the V8 Supercars enduro event at Bathurst the race is 1000km over 6hrs...
The cars are production based, 5 litre V8s producing 600+hp and weigh about 3500lbs at race weight and run on a small 17x8" tyre... and at bathurst the cars arrive at the bottom of conrod straight into the chase at around 200mph...

That was a great race, watched the whole thing. DW must have left a skid mark or two.
The finish was pretty dam exciting.

Agreed, that race (especially the final 5 laps) was worth watching. The whole series is pretty entertaining. There used to be alot more manufacturers represented, but the Holden vs. Ford rivalry has been around the longest I think.

P.S. Seems like this Waltrip guy must have just driven around in circles for most of his career! Must have been a NASCAR driver! : )

was a great race, it was the closest finish ever.. yes there used to be lots of manufacturers when Australia ran their own Group C regulations and international group A. But after 93 they went to their own GM vs Ford 5 litre v8 rules.. they had to be australian built, V8 powered 4 door family cars so it was Ford and Holden.
From 2013 they will race at the new Circuit of the Americas.
