  • How far are you driving or flying from to go to the Reno Air Races?

Curious how far everyone is driving or flying in to attend the Reno Air Races and how long you're staying? Here's a list of starting but not limited to questions/statements re your travel/stay...

    1. Hometown, City, State, Country...
    2. Method of travel, ie Car, RV, Motorcycle, flying, hitch hiking...
    3. Distance Travelling, 10, 100, 500, 5,000 miles...
    4. How many days at the Races...
    5. Camping, RV'ing, Hotels...
    6. Anything else interesting, ie came for a divorce (since the wife/girlfriend said I'd need one if I was to attend the Races...) and staying for the Races...

            1, Frisco.CO.
            2, Flying 185 and 182 out. 6 guy's.
            3, A little under 600 nm.
4, Fly out Wednesday, home on Monday.
            5, Hotel.
6, My 36th trip out, missed 2 since 1974. Women used to go but got tired of same thing every year, wanted to go shopping a couple of days during the races. What's wrong with them? It's now a guy's trip since 2003. We used to fly to some Nascar races but decided to do a guy's trip to the Reno Races. Couldn't be happier how it's turned out. When we hit the lottery my son's will be running the pylons in a 51 and I'll be wrenching on it.

1a. I'm north of Salt Lake in Sunset, and the rest of my family is spread out between there and Salt Lake.
                        2. Dad and uncle flying our home built out. Little sister flying out commercial. The rest are driving with me in the grocery getter!
                        3. 530 miles (what DWYER said)
                        4. 2 days at the races - Driving Friday and Monday, at the races Saturday and Sunday
                        5. My little sister and I stay with our brother in Minden. The rest of the fam is in a hotel in Carson City this year.
                        6. Been attending since 2004. That changed my life! I am now an air race junkie! I'm a composites engineer who'd love to lend my talents to an air race team.
6a. 9 members of my family attend each year. My dad and uncle, who started attending with my grandpa in the late 60's, two cousins, two brothers, a brother-in-law, and my little sister. She's the only girl in the group, but she's one of the guys. My older brother is on the RARA foundation board, and my little sister sells shirts in the Strega pit. Be sure to visit both!
