  • A bad movie with good flying scenes?

Anyone heard of the new movie "Kill Speed" yet? It looks like it might have potential for plane buffs like us.

Plot: KILL SPEED” is a high-octane, youth oriented, “TOP GUN” meets “FAST & FURIOUS” tale about best friends who fly home-built, high-tech planes to deliver Mexican manufactured crystal meth throughout rural California in order to fund their Hollywood, rock-star lifestyle. That is until a beautiful young woman who is not what she pretends to be infiltrates their group

Judging by the poster, those "home-built, high-tech planes" are merely L-39's. Here's a link to a movie review site featuring this new flick:

    IMDB (International Movie Data Base):

Reviews say it's a very poor movie (sounds familiar) but one reviewer said he liked it, then admitted he liked planes (potentially good news).

Anyone seen it yet? Any good flying shots if you have?

Isn't this the one that got people in trouble for buzzing Santa Monica pier?

Same one. A few of the Reno pilots / planes are a part of that deal. Last I heard they were going to re-shoot a lot of it and try to improve it before releasing.

Well, I guess they released it.

By the way, the movie review site includes a trailer. The first scene with the police car made me think "silly" but the flying shots look great!

It was "Fast Glass" before all the trouble.

Yea, the opening with an L-39 getting 'Vapor' and flipping the chippy was a little over the top. It has Dede and Skip Holm doing the flying.

Not necessarily a bad movie, but "The Great Santini" had some pretty cool F-4 flying scenes.

                      Always
High Road to China (why did this never come out on DVD??)
                      The Blue Max
Ace Eli and Rodger of the Skies (sadly never seems to have been released as tape or DVD :-( )
                      Mephis Bell
                      Tora Tora Tora

                              YES!!!

Big Thanks, there Larry! I'll check it our straight away (just hope it's an 'official re-release', f/good quality image).

B&W - but that would be a great candidate for Turner to colorize, I think.
