  • Jimmy DeSanto

Lockheed Bob tells us in another thread that a Jimmy DeSanto thread is coming soon.

The February 1968 Air Progress Racing News column by Don Berliner reported Jimmy was rumored to have a "super-powered Bell P-39" in the works at that time. Bob, did you still know DeSanto in 1968? Ever hear those rumors?

    Re: Jimmy DeSanto

In answer to Lowell. I was working for Lockheed in Calif.(66) & had somewhat lost track of him but I did hear he thought of returning to racing with a revamped F7F Tigercat but that never happened. I will bring his story from the 6/86 copy of "Wings" called "Born To Fly" along with some old black & white photos of some of the Cleveland racers including the original "Galloping Ghost". Wayne or Betty Sherman will know where to find me jn 2011.

I remember a great article on his exploits including the loss of the XP-60 and his amazing survival. Left me wanting more!
