  • At the static displays: Name That Powerplant

Didn't have time to look for a data-plate. Anyone?

I think it is a Bristol Centaurus.

I'd guess a Centaurus as well. It might be a Bristol Hercules however. Both were 14 cylinders, and used sleeve valves.

There was no data plate that I could find, but I thought it was a Centaurus.

I also wondered why anyone would display such an item of interest without some sort of placard indicating what it was and shown by whom?

The Centaurus has 18 cylinders, while the Hercules has 14 cylinders.
Closer inspection of the nose case would suggest it is a Centaurus.

I believe it was 2009, but I recall there was a very nice static display of a Centaurus with a number of cylinders sectioned to reveal the sleeve valves and drive mechanism. Pretty impressive piece of engineering.

If you looked really close you could find the data plate. It is a Centaurus.

It's a Centaurus. It came from Ellsworth Getchell.

                  Zing!

                  No one mentions the 3420?

Here's some pics of the 3420 for anyone that wasn't there.

So who owns that 3420? I saw it there, but I didn't see anything that indicated who owned it or was displaying it.
