  • 2010 Qualifications Thread

In the interest of reducing clutter (OCD) I propose we keep all qualification related stuff in one thread. This one.

That being said, Is 471 a lot faster then last year for the Vampire? (Jet Class)

Is a 407 speed for Strega today any cause for concern?

Was the Ghost airborne at all during either qualifying session? How about Miss America or the FW-190?

Were any Super Sports on the course today at all? The RARA site shows no speeds for them today.

First day, set a speed at conservative power that keeps you out of Thursday's race.

2nd and 3rd day go for better times knowing that if you break you have a time to fall back on and an extra day to fix it.

407 mph for Strega is a parade lap...
I'm not up there yet but you gotta think Tiger and Hinton have a few tricks up their sleeves.
My question for those who were there....
did the engine sound "sweeeet" ?

I was at the fence for Strega's run. It was a parade lap. There was little to no spraybar water coming out. Everybody knows that the spraybar on Strega is like a fire hose on high. They still have another lap to take.

The rules say that if you don't take your two laps consecutively, you only get one lap. I think this speed will probably stand.

EDIT: Just read a few paragraphs below, and it says that a pilot can requalify after everyone else has qualified. So I guess he can get a better speed.

Well, no need to worry about Strega anymore. Glad to see she is as healthy as ever!

That's scary fast! If they have 8 aircraft in the gold, he will be closing on the tail end of the field at ~120mph. Keeping it within the dead lines should be interesting...

Air Biscuit faster than ever - with Brian Sanders as driver.

And - as far as I remember - the first time, that a T-28 is clocked with over 300 mph (--> qualified).

Steven parked it, they tugged it in and didn't even open her up to look under the hood. Clean as a whistle too. Man he looked good running around. Did his two laps, pulled up and landed.

If they can all stay healthy until Sunday...man oh man what a day that is going to be!!

Looks like we have a Glasair III putting up huge numbers in the sport class..

                              Jeff LaVelle - 362.481..

Gonna give those thunderstangs a run for their money it seems?
