  • California Capitol Airshow

Just got an add e-mailed to me for the Capitol Airshow on the 11-12th, and they list the F-22 Demo, the F-18 Demo and the "P-38 Lightning Strike". We've all heard that all or most of the Lightnings are headed to Reno after that.
I'll trade the F-22 for the snowbirds, but Reno needs to put those 38's in the AIR for everyone to see. They are not on the schedule.
    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!?!?

In years past, the "Air Show" sometimes takes place in the late afternoon/early evening after the day's racing is complete.

Definately. I plan on staying late every day just for that reason, and I plan on being there late Sunday and/or early Monday just for the arrival, hopefully en masse!
It just seems that the oppurtunity is here for a very rare showing that a majority of the guests would truly appreciate. Just a couple of formation passes would do it! How about the usual missing man tribute that happens every year? ALL P-38's?!? Heritage flight with a gaggle of them? the flying talent is there (supposedly 3 of the pilots are HF qualified), the planes are there.
A missing man followed by a pass and break for landing...

There used to be an FA-18 listed in this years performers but not anymore. I missed the F-22s in '08 and would sure like to see them one of these days too. I like the jets but 6 P-38's?? Are ya kidding me?? I sure don't want to miss that. Man I hope they are coming!!

The F-18 'Charlie' is still listed on their website.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, But I heard last Sat. that the sponser funding for the P-38's did not come through. So, I don't know how many will actually be there. Or Reno, either.

                  Re: California Capitol Airshow

Not to worry, I spoke with S. Hinton tonight and he says that a flight of 4 -38's will be in Sac on thurs. It is unclear if the other 2 are going to make it and it sounds like only 3 will be continuing on to Stead. After all, 4 is better than none...

One is better than none! Two even more so.
                    Thanks for the positive waves.

The Sparkler is fixed Leo and will be there Sat eve. In the old old days I recall shooting two 38s out on 6. Levitz and Lefty.

                        No more "buzz"? Yehaa!
There was one year ('80, '81?) where they both raced. Really cool seeing both of them together coming around to the front straight.
Then Levitz had that unfortunate gear accident...
                        I'll see you Saturday!
