  • Bear up!

Probably not big news but on Sunday around noonish the deep rumble in the sky was Rare Bear.
Looked like slow timing waaaaay up high. Sure was nice to see and hear!
Is this the first flight or have I just missed the others?

    Re: Bear up!

Rare Bear doing test flights in June? Are you sure it wasn't some sort of mirage or halucination? What happened to the last minute thrash with aborted test flights on monday/tuesday to qualify on wed just before noon? If they are flying in June, that's gonna take some of the excitement out of the first part of race week.

the new owner/crew are messing with a longstanding tradition here.... ;-)

They have flown on and off over the past few months. I think they are still trying to optimize the boil off settings. It still has last years motor on it too.

LOL, true but i think they still have the "stock" engine on her, so not all is lost for last minute scrambling

Bet they find a way to make it exciting. Best laid plans and all that!

            Re: Bear up!

Maybe they're doing the thrash backwards this year. This year the engine, airframe, etc. will be ready to go but the paint job will be in emergecy overdrive!

For it to truly be backwards they would be progressively stripping off paint during the week.

Rod Lewis has plans. Maybe testing a new Turbo-compound R 3350. Cowboy-Up. Rod Lewis style.

I thought a turbo-compound 3350 was too heavy for the bear...
