Thanks. The Swift was ahead of its time. Great paint job.

      I'll say!

Globe Swift competed to become the first post-war piston-engined military trainer. After some consideration about the need for a piston trainer, the USAF decided that a high-performance transitional aircraft was necessary. The Swift lost out to the soon-to-be venerable Beechcraft T-34 Mentor.
Pretty neat "what if" to wonder how things might have turned out had they gotten the contract...

      Very cool aircraft!

Swifts are sweet. Someday I'd kinda like to have one. There are a few here in the area, I know of at least 3 at Schellville.

Only to pick nits, but that excerpt from pilotfriend.com is inaccurate. They are referring to the Temco Buckaroo, which had some commonality with the Swift, but wasn't really a Swift. I'll send you to the Wiki link (as much as I don't like "Wiki", it's pretty accurate).

There are still a few Bucks flying around, with one in the Swift Museum (Athens, TN).

Will, you're right. I know those Swifts in Napa/Schellville. Go pay them a visit and get a ride. You won't regret it (think...RV Grin, but better).

Mark, I definitely DO know how you feel about it. When you make it to Nashville, I'll let you have a try. I'd really feel kinda bad, though, because it would only make you mad having to go back to flying a Pitts or Marchetti.

Pick away!! I'm fascinated with the "breed"... Can't believe the speed/horsepower ratio! Wish I had the bux to get one... and the lessons to be able to fly it!

It looks like you have a Jack Nagle canopy mod there?

Yes, it's the Nagle canopy. Too bad I'm missing out on the week-long Swift Nationals this week in Athens, TN.

It's good to be working, though.
