Hi All, just thought i would post some pics and a video link to the Mandeville Fly In held over the weekend here in Beautiful southern NZ.
Mandeville is a small grass airfield about 15 miles inland of the southern town of Gore.
Located at Mandeville is the Croydon Aircraft company. Croydon specialize in DeHavilland products and have restored a large number of Tiger Moths, as well as DHC-1 Chipmunks, and Fox Moths.
As of late Croydon have also restored a couple of beech Staggerwings, with a Staggerwing currently in the workshop being rebuilt.
Also in the workshop and progressing well is a DH Comet racer..
Of the Heavy Iron, the only representive was Wanaka Based P-51 Dove of peace.
Dove Of Peace would have to be one of the lowest total timed P-51 in the world with approx 500 hours since brand new.
She was delivered from NAA inglewood to the RAAF as A68-674 where she logged 11 hours before being stuck off charge.
Unfortunately wind disrupted the planned flying with only a couple of brief passes by the P-51 as she departed back to Wanaka and the locally based Percival Proctor.
With the Biannual Warbirds over Wanaka now 5 weeks away this is a little teaser...
