    Noted on AvWeb today is the passing of William P. Lear Jr. At age 17, Bill Jr raced a P-38 in the 1946 Bendix Trophy races and became the youngest pilot to fly the P-38 and to race in the Bendix.

    Son of William P. Lear, legendary designer and developer of the Learjet business jet, Bill Lear, Jr., passed away Monday, December 14, at the age of 81, reports the East Volusia News.

    That is sad. Bill was a very interesting man. Talk about someone that had a lifetime of stories to tell...

    Wish I could have heard just a few more as they were always interesting.

        Yes, indeed- Bill Jr.'s sad 12-14-09 passing was noted previously over on WIX (Warbird Information Exchange.org) in their 'Gone West' section. It carries a really great fairly recent casual portrait of Bill that is wonderful. BLUE SKIES, Bill Lear, Jr.
