The only part of Tsunami that was really from a P-51 was the engine mount and tail wheel if I remember correctly. It was a homebuilt.

Yep, not a modded 'Stang. Tsunami is smaller, and is probably the smallest airframe you can safely hang a Merlin upon. I remember in the 80's seeing pics of it being built in Air Classics or Air Progress, one of those 2 mags.

Note that the upper cowling just above the exhaust stacks has built-in bulges just to clear the valve covers...It's a tight fit.
