  • Legendary German test pilot Hanna Reitsch

    Found this on YouTube today,
The last known interview with Hanna Reitsch thirty years since her death.
    (1912-1979)
One of the best test pilots of all time.
    She test flew the Me-321 Gigant, Me-163 Komet, Fieseler FI-103 V-1, and the world's first helicopter..the Fa-61.
Also flew the last aircraft (Fi-156 Storch) out of Berlin in late April 1945.
    Interview was filmed in 1976.
3 part interview with very rare aircraft video.

In her book she describes being layed up in the hospital with bad burns all over her body from her accident in the 163 and laying there being near death and all she could think about was when they would let her fly the rocket plane again...

I forgot that there was a 1965 British movie called "OPERATION CROSSBOW that re-created Hanna Reitsch's test flight of the V-1 Buzz-bomb (or Doodlebug to the British)
