      Prayers go out for the family and crew.

      I loved the quote of scripture from President Bush and his interpretation:
      ===

      "In the skies today we saw destruction and tragedy. Yet farther than we can see there is comfort and hope. In the words of the prophet Isaiah, "Lift your eyes and look to the heavens. Who created all these? He who brings out the starry hosts one by one and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing."

      The same creator who names the stars also knows the names of the seven souls we mourn today. The crew of the shuttle Columbia did not return safely to Earth; yet we can pray that all are safely home.

      May God bless the grieving families, and may God continue to bless America. "

        Columbia Tragedy

        The message the President gave was very spirtually uplifting. I know that God remembers those who sacrificed their lives for others. With every forward step man makes in exploration there will be ones lost.
        I have been taking this all in living here in Texas. Seeing it here on the National and Local news is indeed sad. Let our Prayers go out to those who were lost and to their families.

          Wayne,

          Yes, it is a real tragedy. It is an event that falls in the catagory of remembered dates in my life: Nov 23, 1963, July 20, 1969, Sept 11, 2001. Not only does it leave a big hole in my heart, because of my passion for the space program, but also because my kids and I can be counted as eye witnesses.

          We stood in our backyard Saturday morning, and watched it pass 120 miles to the north of us. I was a little surprised that we could see it, even with the sun already up. I've seen re-entries before, and it was obvious that there was something different about this one. We even said, "Look at all the stuff flying off of it." Little did we know at the time what those words really meant. Watching the NASA channel inside, and listening to the CAPCOM call out for Columbia, was when I knew what we'd seen.

          Our prayers go out to the astronaut's families, the NASA family, and all Americans.
