  • Favorite Food?

A lot of us come from all over the U.S. to attend the Races every year; some of us do it on a budget, some of us go first class, and some of us go somewhere in between. While I look forward to the races, a small place in my heart has been reserved for the buffets. Before they changed the menu, the all-you-can-eat lobster at Boomtown was a daily staple. But since they changed up the menu in Boomtown, I have discovered the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet at the Peppermill; and it's pretty damn hard to beat. But AT the races, i'm kinda of at a loss. Everything is so damn good.

So, with the races right around the corner, and my stomach growling, where is everyones favorite places to eat at the races AND in town? This should be a good one....

              The grilled corn is good.
I love the Asain stir fry things.

In town we always do the All you can eat Sushi on Friday.
Personally I like the Louis Basque place, but some dont.

The Buffet at the GSR is one of my favs... a bit pricey.. the Eldorado (I think) also has a good but spendy Buffet...

I remember the good old days when the casinos brought you in with cheap food!

As far as restaurants go, I'm partial to mexican food, so Miguel's is pretty good, but my fav is Bertha Mirandas on Mill st. Both restaurants are Reno family owned and operated, and both are Reno icons. You can't go wrong at either. At the races, for breakfast (early like 6 am) i have always supported the Boy Scout shindig, but i also like the "Las Compadres" breakfast deal.(Huevos Rancheros) Lunch time snacks are usually at "Nevada Barbeque Co."(also known as BJ's) for their brisket or pulled pork sandwiches. They are awesome with an ice cold beer!

Aside from breakfast burritos washed down with MGD, the best food I've had in Reno is Cafe De Thai down near south meadows.

Ah yes, the famous awful-awful at Jim Kelley's Nugget! (not to be confused with the Sparks Nugget) It's like a half-pounder with a HUGE basket of fries for around $5.00 bucks. Burger lovers dream! Great one Shawn!

(plot hatches in brain).... hummn.... We might wind up bringing in enough $$ to throw into the Blue Thunder II project with this AAFOBQ thing... wonder if we should throw the idea on the table of a "one night merging" of the AAFOQ and the BTII gathering??
