  • Late Reno motel room suggestions

My Reno trip, just this afternoon, went from a 95% maybe hope-so, to a 100% absolute done deal. Now I need to find a Friday and Saturday night motel room for one person. Doesn't need to be downtown, have any extras, or be deluxe.

Does anyone have recent experience or suggestions? I read where a guy can just show up, and go from inn to inn looking for cancelations, and usually find something within an hour or so. Is that really the most economical and less frustrating way at this late hour? I remember doing that back in 1985 and it didn't go so well.

I think this is about my 27th or 28th year to go, but usually I had better plans and reservations in place by now, or else camped behind the Formula/Sport hangars if it was an 11th hour go. My 22 and 17 -year old sons are looking forward to the camping gameplan again this year, but I told them their old man is gonna get a room.

    Any ideas for me...? Thanks.

    Evening,

Try the Western Village in Sparks and the Truckee River Lodge in Reno.

It's late and they may be sold out, but I've stayed at both and they are not deluxe, but clean.

As of 3 days ago, Silver Legacy still had rooms

I've had great luck with both the Silver Legacy and Circus Circus for last minute rooms at reasonable rates. I've also had luck with the old Hilton, now Grand Sierra as well, but it was always more expensive than the other two.

I would just cruise up and down Virginia Street, where all the casinos are at. You should be able to find something.

Thanks everybody! Because of our great fraternity of fans and competitors I have already secured a good package in a place I've stayed a couple of times before. We're all set. That was quick!

          Thanks again.

          See you at the races.

            Hotwire.com,
It's a done deal when you book it but....
            downtown 3.5 star $89
            4 star airport $77
beats the P.O.S.'s I have stayed in for twice as much!
