  • Guess what flew today

After many years of work Keith Shell's (deceased in a T-6 accident)
dream of a super T-6 flew today thru a dedicated affort from his brother John and his father "Doc" in Marion NC. Afer two short flights typcial test flights problems showed thier ugly head, high oil temp and an oil leak which can be fixed. The aircraft is powered by an 1830-92. The front seat is now the rear seat with a jump seat and racing canopy and custom exhaust. The aircraft was one bad ass ride!!

It kinda looks like a cleaner version of Wildfire. It would be cool to see it race. Would that fall in the T6 class, or Unlimited bronze?

The plan is to work out the bugs and maybe sell or race, did you notice the rounded fuselage?

That is one cool looking plane! I'd love to see it in September even if it didn't hit the course.

Wow, pretty cool! The first thing I thought was Wildfire. The second I thought was that airplane with it's invasion stripes reminds me of the T-6's they used to simulate P-47's in the movie, "A Bridge Too Far".

Wow, it even has a DC-3 motor in it. Or for you Zero fans, an American Japanese Zero engine in it.

Hats off to anyone that can see a project like that through to the end. Pat, tell your buddies that we'll raise several beers in their honor out here on the left coast. Post a shot of your tug. T shirt on the way. See you at Reno. DV

Does that have a RV-8 canopy? Neat looking bird!

It would have to be Unlimited, assuming it weighs more than 4500 lbs, because the T-6 has to be unmodified.
