  • Dan Martin and other interviews

I got to interview Dan Martin and he shared some very cool stories!

I interviewed Randy Arrington, an ex-Tactical Naval Aviator. His book "Kerosene Cowboys" is being made into a major motion picture. Think "Top Gun" with a lot more action and less kissy face!

Jacquie Warda gave me an interview. She shared what it's like to have a prop let go at 200mph in a dive!

I have done some others too like 24 year old aerobatic competitor Melissa Pemberton http://evanflys.com/melissa_pemberton

    USAF combat pilots http://evanflys.com/capts_dagley_and_johnson

Father and son naval aviators http://evanflys.com/marvin_and_jeff_quaid

so those are my recent ones.

Also, RARA wrote me and said "The applicant did not meet the prerequisites for receiving press credentials."

Thanks for the interviews...So it sounds like Dan Martin will race at Reno this year with a race motor in Ridge Runner...Thats good news...That is one fast "stock" looking Stang!!!...Combined with the news that Galloping Ghost is coming back as well as Cloud Dancer...Czech Mate running so fast at PRS...Strega...Bear...VooDoo...Sounds like the unlimited field will be pretty impressive after all...

It's ok. My dad thinks it's because of my age and they don't want me out on the pylons. I'll still have a blast at Reno!

            Great interview Evan!

Keep'em coming and keep posting them.

I got to go up in Ridge Runner a couple of years ago.Dan is a great stick!
Had lots of fun.Acro over Santa Cruz.I took my video camera with.
Dan lined us up on a hillside somewhere near Hollister and just banked it slightly and pointed to the hillside and said there you go.It was the shadow of the plane cruising along the hillside. It was the coolest thing.I took it home and showed my wife and she said "how fast was he going?!!!!!" I just said fast enough and left it at that.

You're doing a great job with this interview work Evan.Keep it up.
More people then you know come here and enjoy just reading the stuff that's on this websight.

Be patient grasshopper.. It is your age and nothing else. The pylons are actually controlled by the FAA and nobody your age has ever been an active journalist, as you are.

Many of "us" have been doing what you are doing for longer than you have been on this planet and it took us many years to get where we are now.

You are certainly paying your dues, and as of now, your specialty is interviews and you are doing it very very well. Don't let the fact that you can't yet go as full fledged media at RENO disappoint you, think of all the great people you are getting to meet and spend time with! Most of us would give our right arm to be doing what YOU are doing.

You'll be old enough soon, far too soon (you'll understand that some day ). For now, keep on doing what you are doing.

Re: Dan Martin and other interviews

Thanks guys! I wanted the press credentials so I could interview the Blue Angels. The Blues only let people that have credentials from the show do interviews and I wanted to catch them at Reno.

I might be able to do it at Salinas if they give me press credentials. I applied but haven't heard from them. Also Fleet Week says they'll try to set something up.

Doing it at Reno would have been really cool! Being out on the pylons would be great but our cameras suck so I doubt we'd get good shots anyway
