Anybody good with snakes?

So I was out in the garage this morning getting things ready for a little yard work and... WHOLY CRAP, A SNAKE! After I shooed it out of the garage I ran inside the house, grabed the camera to snap a few pics then I tried to decide what to do with the critter. I don't know much about snakes but from what I do know I didn't think it was poisonous. So, I scooped it up with a rake, took it in the field WAY behind the house and let it loose.
Anyone here know what kind of snake this is?

Looks like a gopher snake to me - harmless, but they try to look like a rattle snake for defensive purposes.

If the head is pointed and or the eyes are diamond shaped it's poisonous.
