  • Southern California Logistics Airport

Being always on the lookout for suitable airfields to hold a race--notwithstanding the distance from any population center--anyone been out to the Southern California Logistics Airport (former George AFB) in Victorville, CA?

Photos never seem to do the topic justice, since you can\'t see power lines running through the middle of the \'course\', or Farmer Bill\'s pumpkin patch or turkey farm just outside the airport fenceline. But they seem to be storing lots of old airliners there, and there appears to be a whole lot of nothing outside the airport proper, including a lot of ramp space, hangers, and big long runways.

    Anyone?

Funny you should mention the place. I flew over it in an airliner and thought the area interesting, so I went to google maps satallite view and looked over the area. You can go right down to about one inch equals
100 ft. resolution. Wonder who owns all that sage brush to the north west before Edwards? If only US 395 weren't in the way......
