  • B-17

A B-17 with a fighter escort (too far to ID) flew east over Napa at 4PM.
Possibly EAA Aluminum Overcast. They are in Camarillo the next 2 days. Anybody else see them?

How the heck did I miss that? I must have been on my way home from work. Bummer.

Not sure if you saw the same B-17 as I did in Alameda on Sunday April 5th...I was at the Alameda Point Flea Market in the late morning and a B-17 with a yellow tail , nose , and wingtips made several low passes over the market much to our surprise and pleasure...I think Aluminum Overcast has red markings...so maybe we are lucky enough to have two B-17s flying around Northern Cal at this time!!!

I spoke to a friend that was Alameda and saw it. Said it was flying out of Hayward. It was too far away to see any markings when I saw it.

ntsb.gov states on 4-5-09 a P40N #N740RB crashed while practicing aerobatics for an Air Show. His son was on the beach talking to him with a handheld & everything seemed normal when he went into a spin & went into Mystic Bay. No pilots name given. Blue skies for him & prayers for family.

Heard they are going to be selling bomber rides out of Sacramento this weekend. Don't know if it is the same bird.

They landed a B17 down at Schellville? Man I would have liked to have seen that. I was out there last Sat, and found a new Mustang hiding where the P40 should have been (P40 is in a new hanger.) The Mustang has no identifying markings on it, all primer. It was a cool find none the less. I have some pics if anyone is interested.
