A Stewart S51,scaleP51,crashed in Ocala,FL on 3-6-09. Ocala.com stated it was built by Kevin Eldredge & sold to John Hambleton about 5years ago. The pilot was killed after suspected engine power problem. Mr. Hambleton was 80 & a previous P51 test pilot. It crashed into a RV park. Prayers to friends & relatives.

John was a test pilot on the Enforcer. Met him a couple times years ago, great guy.

Just read about a TBM that went down in New Jersey a few days ago. Inflight fire in left wing. Pilot got it down (alive, with 2nd and 3rd degree burns). Plane did not fair so well.

Sad but, at least the pilots alive and no other injuries.

the TBM was more or less completely burned out, the tail section was just about the only recognizable piece...

Hambleton was the test pilot of the Piper PE-2 Enforcer when it crashed off Vero Beach in 1971.

Could someone post a link of the TBM incident?

FAA preliminary data is also up but does not add anything.
