There is a great article about Hoot in the most recent Air & Space magazine...There is a great part about when he was commander of the shuttle Atlantis...They knew it had damage to a wing from debris (and looked at it via a camera on the shuttle arm)... Houston told him it would be fine...He was not so confident in the assessment and figured if things started burning through on reentry , as he knew what to look for , that he was gonna let Houston know exactly what was happening in the last 30 seconds before complete failure...I wonder how nice he was gonna be when he "explained" what was happening ?!?!...A amazing man and an amazing pilot...Look forward to see him again at Reno.
