Voodoo blew it's race Merlin while practicing on Sunday before this year's event. The replacement Merlin was their transport motor which they had no desire to run very hard, and as a result, they ended up winning the Bronze. With a racing motor in place, Voodoo is definitely a Gold class racer.

That Purple P-51 has the potential of being one of the fastest. It is surprisingly quick and we really weren't even up on the power. We turned 2, 460 MPH laps on Sunday at only 90" of manifold pressure. Unfortunately, after I pushed the power beyond the 100" mark, the engine let go and I had to be tugged back to the ramp. I wrote a few paragraphs on the experience at the following link.
I'm looking forward to a great time and an even better showing by Voodoo in 2009!
