  • Furias - New Owner - Pilot - Crew - Crew Chief

We had this tidbit up in October but had to take it down till things were ironed out within the new team...

We can now confirm that the new owner of Furias is Chuck Greenhill, you'll remember him with his award winning P-51 Click Here.

I think it was mentioned elsewhere on the forum, Matt Jackson will fly Furias. You can download our 2000 "Warbird Talk Radio" interview with Matt at This Link

Probably the winningest person in the sport, Bill "Kerch" Kerchenfaut will serve as crew chief Click Here for more information about Kerch..

Sanders Aircraft will be Spearheading the project.

Former Mike Brown crew members, Mike Wilton, Al Loving and Dave Fagoaga

Engine will be done by Ray Anderson of Anderson Airmotive.

Matt Jackson tells us "Things are well under way now. We hope to have plane up an running sometime in July for testing purposes.

I've spoken with Kerch, he is extremely excited about the project stating he has always thought the 4360 is a great racing engine..

I can't wait to see what this talented team will come up with! We may well have not yet seen the "world's fastest Sea Fury"...

    Congratulations to EVERYONE!!

We're going to have a lot more on this story between now and June-September....

Smell that? That is the sound of more money pouring into the other team's planes as they got some racing coming their way in the future.

Man, i got to head out to Stead this weekend to see if anything is going on. Even a glimpse at a race plane might hold me over for a week or so.

Speaking of the worlds fastest Seafury. I wonder why they didn't buy 232 instead?

I think that the airframe mods they have in mind for Furias are less exspensive then buying a 4360 and fitting it to 232.

There are more 4360's and parts around than slow-nose 3350's, and the only substitue for cubic inches is cubic dollars.....but when you have both

Exciting news and it is sure to be an exciting addition to air racing, especially considering Mike Brown's untimely retirement!

                          Can you say "boil-off"?

I love the thought of Brian and Dennis standing back making a mental checklist as Kerch and the crew start developing the mods. "Profiled wings, check. Beluga wing root, check. Sousaphone induction, check".
