I have heard some rumblings that this bird may be a racer soon?

    Any confirmation?

I\\\\\\\'ve never seen it in person. How come a military scheme but no markings?

Interesting to note that it appears to have the oversized carbon-fiber spinner commonly used on racing Sea Furies. I'd love to see it turn the sticks in '09.

            Re: Sea Fury

It was formally a Tmk.20, converted to a single seater years ago. I put the engine on this bird back in 2001, and it was a stock "dirty-three-filthy" then. I doubt it has been changed. If it were to race, it would probably end up somewhere in the Silver. The carbon fiber spinner is merely part of the firewall forward conversion that Nelson Ezell builds for the Sea Furies.

            Hope that helps.

Willow Run is west of Detroit,MI
Ford motor Co built B-24 bombers there during WWll
it does have a complicated history (for a smaller place)

I don't have amy pictures of this airplane before it was modified, but it was being built in Canada, I think, by a fella who is no longer with us. Man, I just can't think of his name though. Nelson is the one that told me about the airplane's past, so I believe it to be true. Sorry I'm not more help than that.

The caption says "Chuck Greenhill." Even though that one was not his, he's since sold one and bought one...

Anybody know what the deal is with the paint scheme? Why no markings? I think it looks like a British scheme--too dark on top for an Australian job, and the Canadians were blue-grey.

Without the markings it looks kind of naked.

His "other" Sea Fury is called Furias. Chuck wants to race and win. The pieces are coming together.
Where do these new racer guys come from?
