Actually there is a museum coming to Midland next week to look at it. It would require alot of work though as it is really corroded.

Wow, what a great looking piece of history. To bad i think it would be in violation of my home owners assotiation to have that in my yard.

My ten year old would kill to have that in the back yard! A little pricey though.

The H.O.A. would be the least of my problems! I can imagine where the wife would want me to put that...
It looks like it is one step away from returning to the dirt. Back in the 70's and early 80's there were several in the air. In northern Cali it was normal to see one and sometimes two at airshows.

There has been a deposit placed on the airplane. The plan is for it to be moving up to the North East. That's all I can say for now.

I hope that the HAG 1941 group buys it. It's already public information now of their intentions.

Re: Anyone got a BIG backyard ?

Since it is so rare, it will be nice if it goes to a good home, either a static display or the daunting task of making it flyable.
In no means is that a bag on the CAF. They do an awesome job. Some projects are just outside of their means, and outside of practicality for a group like them.

At one point, back when HQ was still back at Old Rebel Field, was this bird painted in Olive Drab/Grey, with red & white stripes on the rudder? It has been a long time, but I remember a B-23 sitting outside painted like that.

Yes, and it used to fly as well, until it was grounded by corrosion issues. I saw it fly at one of the Airsho's back in the late 70's.

They're here right now and said, "No, they haven't looked at the one in Ione. Too much money for their blood."
