I'd like to see a video of it in flight.

Looks like something that you would want to fly straight and level with a light load.

How many of you, who are pilots, would fly it, if it was certified as being airworthy?

If memory serves me, it was a certificated airplane, I believe 3 or 4 were built. Rober Cummings the actor had one and flew it on a regular basis. If it was in annual...........and legal, I'd fly it.....and I don't say that about all airplanes I've been offered to fly.

Those were built here in my home town. I remember one of them were in the back of my dad's shop when I was a young boy. I used to play in it sometimes. I knew Molt also. I did odd jobs and such for him. He was a different fellow, that's for sure.
Someone brought a Aerocar to the local airshow in Kelso, WA about ten or more years ago. I think he had just bought it. He took it up for a demo flight. He took off and then the engine started to loose rpm's. The plane actually disappeared behind some trees off in the distance. I thought it was not going to make it back! But it re appeared and he landed it down wind. I'm sure he had to clean his shorts after that.

There was one at New Hudson airport (Y47) MI 20 years ago. I was based there and never saw it fly. Sold back then for about $20,000.

He never gave up on the Aerocar concept. He once showed me a model of a Honda Civic with wings that he was trying to convert to a flying car.He said he just couldn't get it light enough. It sure looked cool though. This was at least 20yrs ago. I also helped him with with some electrical work on a kit plane of some sort that he was building at the time.

Wasn't the flying pinto the car/airplane that barely flew, and had an inflight breakup? Seems like if memory serves me correctly the strut attach points were just welded to the car frame and failed....anyone have any other info?

If memory serves me, it failed on the Cessna strut-wing connection. Going to have to do a little digging for that one.
