Let's start a thread that discuss all the racer aspects of what could be and what might be possible.
1. Concepts
2. Powerplants
3. Materials
4. Safety
#1. Includes aerodynamical innovations and power to weight ( wingloading ) issues and new traditional or radical lay-outs.
#2. Handles more down to earth power issues..transmission, prop, cooling, adi etc.
#3. Is all about the aspect how to get the thing lite and durable to withstand all the stresses in a plane.
#4. Among other things; How to bail out if something goes wrong, glideratio, e-seat vs. recovery chute etc.
So all in all.....for instance ....like my TS II in this way:
1. It is intented to go mach 0.75..via wingsweep ( nearly symmetrical thin foil ) and jetlike one piece elevator and lotsa streamlining and enermous power to weight ratio.
2. Due to small size it would use large dia 2 blader prop and Mustang style radiator.
3. Wooden structure ( like Mossie; http://www.leaky-boat.cz/Mosquito.htm ). To keep it lite and smooth.
4. Parachute/firewall/22 G loaded fuse structure and wings up to 15 G:s. Feathered 2 blader prop could be eazily handled in a dead stick landing. Metal parts where they are needed in case of fire.
cheers
