    Trey,

Always a pleasure to see your work here at AAFO. Where was the advance notice of the gathering? Oh, I see, you wanted them all to yourself. Keep them coming, as I am sure they will be great.

I appreciate the compliment Dave There was no advance notice of the gathering, as my father got an email about it, and we didn't know if we were going until Haloween night.

The day started off at Indianapolis International at 730, and dad let me fly over to IL from the front seat while he coached me on the finer points of instrument flying on the way. We (namely I) forgot the time-change from Indiana to Illinois, so we arrived an hour early. We found our airport (not even on a sectional!) and went to another airport in Paris, IL to fuel up. Here are a few shots from Paris.

        The Arrivals

Just imagine 10 T-6's just raining down on a little 2500' grass strip, and this shot just shows the seemingly never-ending line of Texans that filed in!

Next stop, Lee Bottom and 4,000 feet of lush grass!

            There was a T-6 Fly-out there in 2003.

A couple of generic shots too...

My un-artistic attempt at framing and composition.

If you haven't taken a picture of polished aluminum and appear in that same picture, shame on you! (And this was the only angle I could get the most T-6's in the reflection)

                  Probably my favorite...

                      The final pictures...

                      Go Around.

                      Down on the farm...

Here's the man whose airfield we invaded. Don Bussart, he's one of the most extrordinary men from our greatest generation. He flew C-46's over The Hump, C-47's for various air forces in the Orient. He flew for the CIA, and was one of the last US aircraft out of Vietnam when we pulled chocks on the war. He raced a Mosquito in the last Bendix race, and got it to true out at 510mph, using 105 in. and 3100 rpm!!! Lost his T-6 in a poker game in Shanghai, and now at 89 years old, retires to the same room he slept in as a kid on the family farm. He out-drinks anyone in Scotch, and tells stories 'till the cows come home! He's phenomenally sharp for his age, rattling off dates of friends who have passed, where they passed, and what happened. Don has a collection of vintage planes, and classy cars. Life has been good to Don so far.......

                      Group photo...

A quick shot of 7055C before we tucked her in for the night at Indy INTL.

I hope you all enjoyed my photo-report as well as I did.
