  • Just a game: playing with numbers / success in Unlimited Gold

Preamble: Donīt trust a statistic that you havenīt faked on your own

Foreword: If you have to train basic Excel-skills, you can at least use air race data

Calculations in the sheet below are about how successfull some of the typical Gold racers were in the last 10 years, WHEN they made it into the Gold. This doesnīt count, how often engines were blown before sunday. And alternatively I counted DNF and DQ in the Gold as place 8.

Anyway... Whatīs interesting to me is, that some (kind of pseudo) facts might be pulled out of it:

    - Czech Mate (86) seems to be as successful as September Fury (232)
    - Dago seems to be more reliable than Strega (7)
    - Spirit of Texas (105) seems to be a safe bet to be in the Gold.

Everybody who wants to play with this is allowed to come to other / more / totally different (...) conclusions or add more racers like Fury ...
    Silly Season has started !

    Jan,
105 in the Gold does appear to be the safest bet.
    Is data fact?
I have enjoyed your website over the years. Thanks, Bob

Fascinating! I'd like to see this revised to cover the past 20 years, rather than 10. Tons of history in the early- and mid- 1990s that would meaningfully impact this data.

      Thanks for sharing.
